Run TOO Overcome

Sydney and Spencer ran their first 5K today! They did a great job! Sydney's time was 35.03 and Spencer's time was 38.15. Kurt ran with the kids and helped them along. I was planning on running too but Abbie and I were both not feeling well the past few days. Abbie was tough and we ran the kid's 1 mile run together. Great job runners!!

Enrico Fermi aka Spencer

Spencer did awesome in his Wax Museum today as Enrico Fermi. Fermi is famous for discovering the first nuclear reaction and helping build the first atomic bomb.

Charlotte Checkers hockey game

Sydney was able to sing with her show choir from school at the Charlotte Checkers hockey game. She and Kurt had a great time watching the game from the 8th row. Sydney had lots of stories to tell about all of the fights that broke out in the game!

the kids all had $5 to spend from G & G Woolley so we went to Target for our FHE activity. It took a while(forever) to decide but these 3 bought a big ball and a treat. Spencer put his $ toward a new football and Sydney spent a little of hers on erasable pens.

A day off!

The kids had the day off of school so we took full advantage of the beautiful weather. We visited the Energy Explorium at the nearby nuclear power plant to learn about nuclear reactions. Spencer is researching the topic for his wax museum. It also seemed very timely with the nuclear reactor problems happening in Japan. It was a gorgeous 85 degrees outside so the girls jumped on the trampoline with the sprinklers on.

Happy St. Patrick's Day/ Firebowl

Spencer was invited to be on our school's team to compete in the Firebowl. It is a quiz bowl sponsored by the local Fire Marshall. This was our school's first year to compete and we were blown out of the water by teams who had been studying and memorizing the 50 page packet of fire safety information. Our team was formed and got their packets last week. We had no idea just how serious some teams were. The kids had a lot of fun even though we lost in the first round. Kurt was able to work from home so I could spend the day with Spencer. It was really fun!

winter hats and training underwear are all the rage - at least at our house! Potty training is going pretty well.....

Pi day!

Perfect that Pi day fell on Monday so we could have pie for our Family Home Evening treat!

Spring in the Carolinas

It was such a beautiful afternoon that we had to cook out and have some friends over after stake conference. Abbie, Sydney and Blake made these paper bag puppets from a book my Grandma and aunt wrote. They made up a play, with a script and backdrop. They did a great job!

Our next door neighbors are back in town - they moved to Mexico, then Texas - but they keep their house here and visit every 6 months or so. We love when they come. We met for lunch at Chick-fil-a and then went to the park to play.

Hot -n- ready

Thank goodness for Little Ceasar's $5 hot-n-ready pizza. It has saved dinner time frequently at our house. Usually Friday evenings - especially this one when my patience was more than used up on potty training day#2.

Potty training day #1

I think this picture says it all. It was a long, rough day. Plus Kurt was out of town and got stuck in NJ overnight and I had a cold and felt yucky. We watched Dora and Barney all day while they sat on the potty, ate snacks and drank juice boxes. We had some success but it was a hard day.

Science Fair

We visited the kids classes today to see their science fair projects - they all had really interesting experiments! Spencer tested to see which riding position would allow him to ride the fastest. Sydney tested to see which popcorn had the least amount of unpopped kernels. They did a great job! We stayed and had lunch with Spencer and Sydney and then stayed to eat with Abbie too.

Finale

Sydney is in Show Choir at school and they have been working hard all year to put on the musical - The Jungle Book. Tonight was the big night and they did a great job! Sydney was a coil of Kaa, the snake. She had a few little lines and she did a great job! She has LOVED being in show choir! Wonderful job Sydney! We are so proud of you!

It is time. I am fighting it but they are ready and excited. So, I am gathering myself and clearing a few days and we are going to do this!

We organized an 80's prom for our friends and it was so much fun! It was so great because everyone really got into the theme and looked awesome!
