Memorial Day!

A beautiful day. Kurt and I watched the US Capitol Memorial Day concert on PBS last night and it was really moving. We are so grateful for the soldiers who have fought for our freedom. Today started out beautiful. I went on a bike ride early and come home and rode with the kids around the neighborhood. We took Abbie's training wheels off today and she just hopped on and took off. She had it figured out six months ago but didn't ride much over the winter and wanted them back on for the last few months. She is a pro now! Kurt also went on a bike ride and ended up getting soaked for the second half of his ride in a steady downpour of rain. The rest of the day it rained and rained. We had a super fun bbq with 7 other families in spite of the rain. We feel so blessed to have such great friends here!

Econ day projects

We spent this lovely Sunday afternoon putting together the kids items to "sell" on Econ day this Wednesday. Sydney made candy sundaes and Spencer made candy airplanes.

Busy productive Saturday!

planted flowers in our bare flower beds, Sydney tried out for a pre-challenge soccer team and made it - hooray Sydney!!, lawn mowed, oil changed, filters changed in the cars, flower beds weeded and mulched, ward memorial day bbq, and grocery shopping.

I took this handsome guy out to dinner for a very belated birthday. It was lovely and delicious. I love you Kurt!

Try-outs

Spencer tried out tonight for the pre-challenge soccer team. He played hard and did great. We'll see if he makes it in a few days. Great job bud!

Tri-day!

Raced my first triathlon today! 300 yard swim, 11.6 mile bike and 5k run. Finished in 1:26:40! My goal was to finish in under 1:30 and I did it! It was definitely challenging but it was awesome!
All of us did this race as our first tri - Adria, Kristin, Heather, Cami and Alison!
These guys are old pros at this! They all did great in their triathlons this evening. What great kids!

Celebrating a day early

Powder Puff derby

the Faith in God girls had a pinewood derby of their own and had a great time. Sydney's car was in the top 4 fastest and she had a fun time making her purple Littlest Pet Shop car.

this is what our table looked at this morning at 8 am. the homework from missing school on Friday that I thought was done was in fact not finished. amazing how much they got done with a quick deadline. maybe I should give them deadlines every day! of course catie and connor had to climb up and join in the chaos.
